Situational Parenting
Published in Hardcover by Leadership Studies (15 December, 1999)
Authors: Paul Hersey, Ron Campbell, and Leslie O'Brien
Average review score:

The best "how to" parent book ever!
I'm was so sick of theories and cheerleading and attitudinal approaches to parenting that I could scream! This is, hands down, the best book and parenting I have ever read. Situational Parenting picks up where Paul Hersey's Situational Leadership leaves off. It helped me to understand the "how to" and just as important, the "timing" of being a successful and caring parent. This book helped me to turn around a very rocky relationship with my daughter in two weeks. $10,000 in therapy couldn't come close to the help I found here. God bless Paul Hersey and Ron Campbell!

It brought tears to my eyes and a smile to my heart.
"so many gifts" is a wonderful story of Santa. It makes the transition from "believing" to "not believing" smooth and joyous. The story instills the spirit of Santa, Christmas and giving using a beautiful series of illustrating and words. It is truly a wonderful story to be read by adults and children alike.

Spaces for Living: How to Create Multifunctional Rooms for Today's Homes
Published in Paperback by Three Rivers Press (March, 1999)
Authors: Liz Bauwens and Alexandra Campbell
Average review score:

Really practical advice - excellent
I got this book when I started working at home and faced the problem of turning a typical family house into an office/working/living area without being able to magic up a couple of new rooms. It turned out to be a perfect choice becaue it is absolutely practical, yet doesn't compromise on style. Its helped me turn my three-up two-down conventional family house into a much more flexible and beutiful place for living. If you are not totally happy with the way your home works, but don't want to do anything as drastic as move - I recommend you take a look at what this book has to say.

Spartacus
Published in Paperback by Polygon (15 September, 2001)
Authors: James Lewis Mitchell, Lewis Grassic Gibbon, and Ian Campbell
Average review score:

Immensely rich
Lewis Grassic Gibbon (or James Leslie Mitchell) has written a novel of Spartacus that is as refreshing as it is clearly one of the forerunners of historical fiction. Opening through the eyes of the eunuch Kleon and his mission to find the heroic leader of the Slaves the novel centers more around Spartacus 'inner circle' and his relationship with Elpinice. Book I is told through Kleon and deals with the period up to the defeat after the Battle of the Lake. Books II and III with Spatracus' victories until we move towards the well-known and inexorable end on the Appian way at the hands of Marcus Licinius Crassus at the end of Book VI. The novel ends as it begins, with Kleon, and his crucifixion
The novel is well written, well-paced and pauses sufficiently to voice greater philospohical views than historical novels of the current generation. It is easy to see why this has been heralded as one of the great novels of its genre.

Spirit of the Ancestors: Lessons from Africa
Published in Paperback by Lotus Press (January, 2003)
Author: Susan Schuster Campbell
Average review score:

The universal wisdom of Africa
Susan Schuster Campbell speaks with a clear voice, sharing her African experiences through Western eyes. Americans have lost the vital connection with ancestors. Susan's book is full of personal stories and practical applications for reconnecting and building personal relationships with ancestral guides.

The African approach of contact with the ancestors complements religious and spiritual practices. In Spirit of the Ancestors, Ms. Campbell covers a variety of topics: 1)contacting ancestors; 2)ancestral dreaming; 3)following ancestral guidance; 4)doorway to the spiritual; 5)gifts of the ancestors; 6)the practice of ancestors. I have found this easy-to-read book helpful in my own shamanic practice and highly recommend it to anyone interested in deepening their own spiritual path.

A Gift From Swift
Edward Swift is one of my favorite authors. This book made me laugh out loud and then weep for joy in knowing that a great author like him is writing and living in our midst. Has Oprah heard about this guy? His book, "My Grandfather's Finger" captured my heart and imagination a few years ago and since then I have read all of his books that I can find in print. Such a gift he has for capturing the souls of human beings on paper. Thank you Edward Swift for touching me in a way that no other author has been able to.

Statistics You Can't Trust: A Friendly Guide to Clear Thinking About Statistics in Everyday Life
Published in Paperback by Think Twice Publishing (August, 1998)
Authors: Stephen Kent Campbell, Steve Campbell, and Mark V. Hall
Average review score:

Excellent presentation of "statistics for the beginner"
Engagingly written, with clear (and usually relevant) anecdotes, the book succeeds in the attempt to present statistics as a subject available to the amateur. I especially enjoyed the examples at the end of the book, where I could check out how well I had grasped the concepts earlier presented. So many experts barrage us with statistics that attempt to influence our viewpoints, actions, activities and votes, that it is important to be able to know whether or not the information is valid and complete. With the analysis tools provided by the author, one can more effectively decide whether or not the facts presented are valid or accurate.

The Stone-Campbell Movement
Published in Paperback by College Press Publishing Company, Inc. (August, 1995)
Author: Leroy Garrett
Average review score:

A Great History Source for All Branches of the Restoration M
I purchased this book and read it in 1982. It is a great source for the history of all three branches of the Restoration Movement. Mr Garrett has preached in all three branches of the Movement and is very familiar with all. He was also my American History teacher at Dallas Christian College.

Any way, the book is well documented (footnotes & bibliography). It is easy to read and very informative. It appears to me to be a fair treatment of all three branches of the Movement.
